Weekend - June 23/24

Unread post by bdg » Sat Jun 23, 2018 2:34 pm

A bit of a duplication from other postings - but Saturday at SP was fantastic!!! Winds started very low and increased to a cross-wind just to add enough challenge to the morning.

Two more great flights with Ron - and he is now landing! Great results!

Also, a welcome to two engineering students - some amazing flying and take-offs and landings are a working well already - all in one flight. Also a welcome to Richard who will be back to share the hobby with his grandchildren.

I am sure that the ASRCM fun fly was a great success as well. Looking forward to seeing some photos from that event from Al... his shots are always so great!

Fun times! Great times! Welcome back summer!!!

The rainy weather kept most people away from SP this morning. I arrived at 11:15am and left at 12:45pm. Great conditions but I was alone until Bill arrived for a bit at the end. Next weekend.... long weekend!!!

I went out at 9:30 just when fog and drizzle ended. Rich and another guy (forgot his name) were flying. Had a couple of flights with my mayfly in good conditions and some light thermal activity.
3:00 pm now and am joining Chris Dean for some light weather sloping at Lawrencetown. Winds are 15 kph from southwest.

A line-of-sight flight with my Phantom from today.... I hadn't previously noticed that the cut-down path also extends to the south of the field....

Brian,

Has anyone learned yet who cut these paths around the field and why?

Jeff,

Not aliens....!

Don W cut them through the thorns! He mentioned that he was trying to walk through them and it was incredibly difficult (I can attest to that!!) and came back with his ride-on mower. The paths have made an incredible difference!
