What a Saturday!!! Great turn-out although lots of missing faces in the crowd. Winds started off very low and increased through the morning - but certainly very manageable. Unfortunately, some showers that certainly put a "damper" on the morning. Many of us waited it out and were rewarded with more stick time.

Join me in welcoming renewed member Marc R. to the field. Most of us know Marc as a long-standing member of the past and very capable builder. Marc has been mostly at Avon for the past little while.

Also, join me in welcoming John to the field. John had his Timber at SP and has previously also flown at Avon. Lots of great touch and goes on the narrower field!

Lastly, both Ian and Ron were participating in training flights. Both are doing very well with their training. Certainly a special thanks to Rick M. for helping with the training!

Bob S. has been mowing the grass and the results are outstanding....

Tomorrow is looking great.... and we are trying to plan BBQ #2 - more to follow on that one!!!

Well I was flying too this weekend in Ireland.
Met many new fliers and some I had not seen for 40 years.
1500 ft elevation Mt Tintinna in Tipperary. Lake in background 100 ft elevation.
About 16 fliers.
Morning was foggy with low wind. Cleared up later but still hazy with little or no wind. Luckily there was strong Cumulus development which produced great Thermal activity.
Nice touch- they had a Canadian Flag Windsock.

Had a nice time at the field this morning with everyone. Thanks to Bob for the UMX test flight and for mowing the grass so short. Here is a shot from my quad copter:

Brian,

I was in a stationary hover at the south end of the field and the plane was making a high speed pass from the north. I believe I was slowly descending but yes it was fairly close.

It sure was a busy morning on Sunday! Almost no "local" parking spots available!!

Some more great training flights by Ian / Rick; and lots of help for Murray from Steve W, John L, and Bill F. Nice maiden with the P47 as well!

Ron and I were flying buddy box and he was doing very well. Practicing right hand turns and improving nicely. We were getting out a little far and I took over but the Apprentice was "turned around" from my expectations. Lots of spare altitude to address this but we encountered a problem which resulted in the destruction of the Apprentice. There is the possibility of repair and evaluations are underway, or we might consider a new trainer.

The crowds started to dwindle near noon.... and winds were a little higher. Ultimately a great weekend.

Welcome back summer!!! We've missed you!
