Heritage Day - February 19, 2018

Unread post by bdg » Sun Feb 18, 2018 6:06 pm

Conditions are FINALLY looking favourable in the morning for some outdoor flying.... I expect that there will be a good gang at SP tomorrow to take advantage of the conditions. The snow will be holding on overnight so be sure to bring along your waterplanes / planes with skis. Oh - and make sure that your MAAC is up-to-date...!

Hope to see you tomorrow.

Well.... the forecast that I had looked at suggested temperatures of -2°C at 8am... not -8°C as it is now.... but winds are low. I am targeting to still be at SP for 9am or so... and the temperature has already risen by 0.2°C while I have been writing this - so we are on the right track!

Wow! What a morning! Cool to start but NO WIND so absolutely fantastic. And just a light feathering of snow to make it slick for the water planes and even those planes with large wheels (and even a few without any!).

Great turn-out with close to 10 flyers participating.

Hopefully next weekend will be equally great!

Glad you guys had a good day of flying.

It would have been a perfect day for the Porters Lake Ice Fly except for one small detail - the ice took a beating on Saturday and was unsuitable for the event on Monday. This does not bode well for future chances at running the event this winter, unfortunately, but - this s Nova Scotia - so you never know....
