November 11/12/13

Unread post by bdg » Sun Nov 12, 2017 8:57 pm

Well - not a bad long weekend thus far...! Saturday was too windy but Sunday was actually great. Definitely cold with temperatures below freezing but wnds were nil which resulted in a great morning. The parking area was full with upwards of a dozen or more members enjoying the day. And that frozen ground was unforgiving on landing gear.

The Shannon Park school is closed tomorrow and many people are off due to Remembrance Day.... so another repeat of today is in order! Temperatures will be warmer and winds should remain low.

Oh... and thanks to Rick in getting this website operational again. As many people might have noticed, the page was unavailable most of the day. In times like this, our facebook page can be a backup means of sharing information. The URL is https://www.facebook.com/HalifaxElectricFlyers/

See you tomorrow and then Tuesday at the AGM!!!

Another great day! Warmer temperatures as the day progressed. Great turn-out. A few training flights with Jake (and young son Andrew!) with my UMX Timber as the Club Apprentice was home (wasn't expecting any training....). Jake did amazingly well with the plane and was perfecting figure 8's after only (2) short 5 minute flights. Way to go!

Great to see John F with his Apprentice in Expert mode - loops, rolls and thrills! And SAFE leveling in an emergency....!

See you tomorrow at the AGM!

What a great day. Arrived early and flew for a couple of hours, but had to leave to run some of errands. I returned at 12:30 to find everyone had left, so I flew five more flights to discharge the batteries and packed it in.

I never crash, I just create exciting ways to meet the ground. After all, take-offs are desirable, landings are inevitable.

Must have just missed you! I left around 12:20 or so and stopped at MSC for some supplies. Winds were still light and the temperatures were great... for this time of year!

Hopefully next weekend will be nice too.....

As a footnote to the day, I showed up just as Bruce was leaving around 1:30 pm. Not long after I started flying, Ivan appeared with his Skyray (formerly my Skyray). Then Chris D and John(?) arrived for some flying. So the afternoon session was busy as well.

Sorry Jeff, I didn't mean to ignore you, but I'm terrible remembering names and I didn't want to post incorrectly.
