Re: SP Weather - GO / NO GO
Good point John. I will figure out how to add that if this proves to be dependable.

Re: SP Weather - GO / NO GO
Yes I'm trying again after the last attempt was less than reliable...
Try this:
http://www.halifaxelectricflyers.com/dyc.html
You may have to reload the page from time to time and maybe even after the first attempt. This is using the Google Charts API and it has some quirks.
A mouse over on the graph will give the wind direction (as per John O's request).
If this doesn't work for you please let me know. I'm determined to create something that works.

Re: SP Weather - GO / NO GO
I updated the chart slightly to show two horizontal coloured bars at what I consider to be "challenging" and "extreme" flying conditions. This makes it easier to see what range the wind is on your phone.

Re: SP Weather - GO / NO GO
I'm liking this version a lot better Brian but I'm not sure its a keeper yet. If this version starts to get unreliable I have some other ideas to make it better.
For John O I am going to add back the temperature in the tooltip.
Ultimately the wind conditions are the most important factor to determine if it is worth going out to the field, especially in the winter. But I have to confess, a lot of times on a winter weekend I go and check it out anyway

I need a beginner line at about 8 km/h, maybe green. lol Hopefully I'll graduate to the yellow line this year.

After the news reports this morning maybe you can add another chart for air quality?

Re: SP Weather - GO / NO GO
This is working very well and I am referring to it frequently.... unfortunately I don't like what it is reporting with the higher winds today!!! That, and a -12°C ambient temperatures are a BAD combination. Supposed to be a wind chill of -22°C.....
Is the chart based upon the average from DYC over a defined time? Not the gusts, right?

Re: SP Weather - GO / NO GO
It gets the current wind from the website every two minutes Brian. So it is mostly missing the gusts on a day like today where the wind is constantly changing.
I'm thinking that the reference lines need to be lowered a bit...
