I have the E-flite 480 1020kv motor, 40A TURNIGY Plush ESC, AR500, and 4 HS-55s, and a TURNIGY 3S 2200 20C installed. Now E-Flite suggests an APC 12x6E for this motor/plane. That prop size seemed a bit large to me, so I consulted with Jack and he agreed. I also queried the RCGroups related thread... the boys that run with the 480 motor (the 1020kv version) are suggesting the 12x6 is correct. I am assuming that with a 12x6 at full throttle, this motor would be at it's limit.

Oh, this plane weighs 880 grams (about 2 lbs) as I have it configured. So, 2 x 16oz = 32oz x 6.25 Watts per oz = 200 Watts (for sport flying). I will run some tests and see what numbers I get with various sized props.

The build is done. Ready for maiden. Here are some pics. BTW, that is an APC 10x5E. With that prop, the motor makes 250 watts...

Good choice to start with, Murray...you don't want to fly a Mustang on your first flight. Just up the Prop/power when you get more confident, and Add Floats...Remember, there are Old Pilots, and there are Bold Pilots, But there are no Old, Bold Pilots.... 8-)

p.s. Super Build, By the way :D

BTW, I have not confirmed this for sure, but a lot of the guys on RCGroups are referring to this as the "clipped wing version" Taylorcraft. IF that is so, than to fly this "scale" is to fly it as an acrobatic plane... hence the use of 480 (1020 kv) and large/fast pitch props (11x6 and 10x8 or 10x7)!?!
