A new Dynamic Soaring Speed record has been set at 505 MPH
This is the first time 500 MPH has been exceeded. Old record was 497MPH set about 3 years ago.
Makes those Turbine jobs seem like indoor models.

Re: 505 MPH SailplaneRecord
amazing - thanks john
here's the video - as usual in dss videos, there's not a lot to see, but you can occasionally hear the glider...

in a vacuum, if "fired" straight up like a bullet, that velocity would take the glider ballistically to 2.6 km high, in 23 seconds, or conversely hit the ground at 505 mph if dropped from 2.6 km
"Bruce Tebo set the record today (10-22-14) Dynamic Soaring at 503mph, Weldon CA. Then 2hrs later broke his own record at 505mph. The high winds were hitting the hill at 50-62mph with gusts to 68."

Re: 505 MPH SailplaneRecord
This is a post on the Kinetic 130" which set up the record. The link is from Oct. 2010, four years ago when it was one of the first models to exceed 400 MPH.
Obviously it is a serious and well developed designs. Hope to see some of you newby Soaring guys with this model next year.
