Velocity LX 80"

Unread post by eyeinsky » Wed Jan 25, 2012 2:11 pm

I just purchased my first large scale model here in Wichita.

The Velocity will be running OpenAero KK board stab system witch flying wing software will lend itself nicely to the stab control. My mix will require the flying wing ailevon mix on the main wing with a reverse acting control movement on the fwd mounted canard but also we should have roll on the canard. The model is set with dual in all flight controls anyway. So big question should I run one KK board or go redundancy of two. I will be starting build tread over in the Giant scale section of the forum.

Here’s a couple of link on the concept if you’re not familiar with the KK control system:

You always have the most interesting projects Jerry! Are you going to go electric powered with it or the recommended nitro system?

Have you had any past experience with KMP? Coincidentally I was searching the net last night to find out about them and couldn't find much...

Thanks guys look fwd to it.

You know me Rick only the strange stuff, a very rare kit comes from near home Thunder Bay ont. I found it here in Wichita and I did good on the price, last I can tell it was built it back in 2007 and not available now. Just before Chistmas I was on training at Flight Safety and the instructor on this course use to work for the company that builds the full sace version. We got into talking and my interest was sparked I had always be intreged by the Burt Rutan design, so the obvious choice was made.

This will be electric with all the bell and whistle I started a build tread here too ;

In hindsight it was stupid of me to ask about the power system Jerry. lol.

I am really looking forward to seeing what you are going to do with this beast. I suspect it will be a challenge to get it to fly to your satisfaction.

How are you going to get it back from Wichita just out of curiosity?
