Parts for my Pulse XT 60 ARF

Unread post by Enforcer » Mon Apr 27, 2009 10:46 pm

I ordered the electrics that will be needed to complete the Pulse XT 60 that I purchased from Don Menchions a while back. 2 of the items are still on backorder and as you know, the man from HK won't send any item until the order is filled.

Anyway, with "much" help from Don, here is what I ordered...

4 servos:

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/stor ... oduct=8763

2 batteries:

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/stor ... oduct=6501

1 Rx:

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/stor ... oduct=5544

1 speed controller (UPDATE - I canceled the back-ordered 80A ESC for the following 100A ESC):

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/stor ... oduct=4691

1 motor:

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/stor ... oduct=7071

1 series connector (for the batteries)

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/stor ... oduct=2156

and some Insta-Cure Thin CA to top off the shipping weight.

UPDATE: This BEC

http://www.greathobbies.com/productinfo/?prod_id=CCRBEC

Total cost (Update): $478.00 US (includes shipping) + 40.00 CA (includes shipping) for the BEC

Tell me what you think. All comments welcome!

The stuff I ordered has begun to arrive. I received the BEC from Castle today. With tax, delivery and insurance (I did not ask for BTW) it came to $48.17 Canadian. Most of the other stuff from Hong Kong is now in Ontario waiting for a Customs check.

BTW, I am mentioning the prices in this thread for folks (newbies like me) to use as a benchmark/guide, in the event they were thinking of doing something like this.

OK, I just added everything up and the total cost for "everything" (accept a transmitter which I already own) is $840.18 CAN. What do you think... good, bad, you're kidding, you're a fool, or, let's see it flying and if it does not crash... I'll give you my opinion then!

...I was thinking, are you trying to scare off an Instructor or "Winged member who would do a maiden flight" ...but then I realized ...No, when Murray flies this baby, he will have his own Wings, be reasonable relaxed, and very confident in what will take place..!

2020!?!

Don't worry guys. Chris promised to take me and the plane to the Enfield sod farm. Actually he didn't, but I just want to see if he is watching this thread... and worrying!

On a serious note...

I will be bringing it to the field when it is finished so you can all give it the once over. I am very excited for you all to see it finished. I know it does not compare to the hard work and long hours you "real" modelers put into your projects, but this is as close as I will ever get. I don't posses your dedication and/or skill.

I received the ESC today... WOW, this thing is HUGE... and very cool looking with it's heat-sink. Funny thing is, I ordered this "after" some other things from HC. I hope customs hasn't decided the other stuff is for making bombs!!!

Hmmm... no deliveries today. Wait... someone is knocking at my door. Be right back...

OK, I'm back. It wasn't the postman. It was a guy from an organization called CSIS??? He asked me some questions about spending time in countries that harbour terrorists??? Odd fellow! Assuming he was trying to sell me a vacation package. I told him I was not interested and closed the door.

Darn, someone is knocking at my back door this time. I'll be right back...

Wow! That was some ordeal. It turns out that guy was a "secret agent" from Ottawa. He took me to a holding cell and questioned me till about an hour ago!!! It seems the customs guys had gone through my parcels from HC and thought I was building some sort of bomb. I guess they believed my explanation... that I was simply an RC hobbyist, because I just checked Canada Post Tracking and found the following...

Package 1 from HC (my new powered glider and realated stuff)

2009/05/12 13:07 International item released from Customs for processing by Canada Post.
2009/05/12 13:55 Item processed at postal facility - MISSISSAUGA

Package 2 from HC (the rest of the stuff to finish the Pulse 60)

2009/05/12 16:17 International item released from Customs for processing by Canada Post

:D

BTW, he wasn't wearing any gloves... nor, did he put any on come to think of it!!! :?
