VIGGEN - from Flite-Test

Unread post by retiredVTT » Mon Sep 18, 2017 4:42 pm

Another neat product, now produced by the Flite-Test guys and gals with water proof "brown" foam board from the Adams Company.

The Viggen is a EDF (electric ducted fan) powered jet type model, laser cut, and glued together with any typical hot glue gun.
A well detailed one hour long build video by the designer, David, is available online
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMzqxA0V1Xo

The design and laser cutting is well done and the kit sells locally from Great Hobbies for about $50.00
Either a 64mm or a 70mm fan unit can be used as both sized internal formers are provided.

I wanted to be able to SEE this one, and I got a bit carried away with trim sheets and Econokote covering, but it did result in something that is SEEN..!

Power is any good 4S Lipo pack, and I can report that it launches very well and really has no bad habits.

A complete shocker is how well it flys slowly...this due to the well placed "canards" up front. It even can be put into a harrier mode, just make sure you have sufficient altitude or plenty of oooph left to get out of this mode..!

We launched it Sunday, (thanks Steve) and Brian caught it on video in this short clip:

Cloudy day at Shannon with virtually no wind, as the Viggen was flown again.
Launch control was in the hands of Steve W, with Chris H. performing well as videographer.
