Bungee Launcher

Unread post by retiredVTT » Wed Aug 12, 2015 10:45 pm

Thinking of making a bungee launcher for EDFs.. constructed from PVC tubing with pedal launcher.

Looking at this site for 60 ft of either 5-16 inch or 3-8 inch shock cord..
http://www.jtsoutdoorfabrics.com/produc ... nd=0&page=

Thought it might last longer than the product from HK.

any thoughts..

from those stretch numbers, i don't think shock cord stretches enough - latex is the stretchiest thing available (norm 3x, max 5 to 7 times)

i think latex surgical tubing from a local medical supply company would be relatively inexpensive - just keep in the dark out of sunlight when not in use

Steve is correct. You need the contraction of the bungee material to be gradual as opposed to sudden and violent, as it would be with the shock cord you've indicated, Bill. This stuff would rip the wings off a model!

Thanks guys, I'll be looking at latex surgical tubing with a 5/16" outside diameter I guess...!

I'll keep you posted.
