DeNight Special - a '50's Reno racer..

..got something new on the bench; a Hangar 9 DeNight Special, a 1950's era midget racer.
The original was owned and raced by Bart DeNight quite successfully in the early 50's.

Typical Hangar 9 quality, (very good!). Lots of individually sealed bags of parts correctly labelled, with everything packed in foam.
Wingspan is 58", calls for a E-Flite 46 on 4S, but hey...we got something here that might be better on 5S..?!

Here are a couple of "promo pics" from Hangar 9 to give a reference for size.

Trying something new with regard to reinforcing the landing gear plate.

My secret weapon this time is Elmer's Polyurethane glue applied by connecting a foot long plastic hose to the spout so the glue can be directed to the correct location in the bowels of the model..!

This is a constant problem with ARF's that are built to "kiss" the asphalt instead of smack the sod fields as they are landed...!

..update, as we try to meet my Labor Day weekend deadline for a maiden.

..weighs in at 8 pounds, producing 1100 watts on a 5S pack.
