FX-61 Phantom

Unread post by MarkL » Fri Mar 01, 2013 6:23 am

Currently got the ZETA FX-61 Phantom flying wing in for review. Plan is to use this as an FPV platform, as well as a larger fun flyer. This one I picked up from HobbyKing but if these seem like a decent airframe I'm looking to carry them for resale direct from the manufacturer. Also looking to carry the small Z-84 version, one on order for review.

Build pretty much complete other than some tightening a few screws and final CG adjustments.

Not sure what i'm going with for FPV gear yet. Will see after the maiden.

Ok here is a video of the maiden. Please excuse the quality, recording a white plane on a gray sky, with snow on the ground with a #16 keychain cam doesn't offer a lot of contrast :-)

Overall the maiden was uneventful. Fx-61 flies great, certainly no speed demo with this setup but fairly easy to hand launch and nice light floater.

I had issues with the Guardian stabilizer so had to basically turn it off shortly after launch (I'm using a beta update of the hardware and software, not the stock version).

I think I'll upgrade to a larger motor and go 4S to get a bit more power and speed.
