Landing gear mod

Unread post by Metalhead » Wed Feb 20, 2013 7:59 am

Apparently the gear needs some reinforcing!

I got this from reading the 265 page build thread!

I used the flying wires and turnbuckles from the Sopwith that i didn't use, and bought two 8 pound springs at Trans world...

I have everything put together with Locktight!!

By the way, the two holes in the bottom of the plane are where i built the battery box, it was as close to the centre of the old fuel tank as i could get.

More picts tomorrow....

You know Trevor,

I think it really is a great plane!

When i searched for a build thread i found this:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_32409 ... ey_/tm.htm

there are 275 pages in the build thread!!

there are people on ther from 6-8 years ago and are on their second or third one of these!!

From all accounts she flies very well and very easy.

A lot of people have put 50cc gas engines in them and have had a lot of success. I am putting a Hacker A60-16M in it that i got from Chris, so i hope it will have lots of power and flight time.
I'm going to run two 5 cell batteries although you can run two 6 cell if you like, but i thought the extra weight probably isn't worth it.

Anyway, i got the plane thru RC wings gor a great price and the servos aren't that bad...
Probably mor picts this afternoon...

Hi guys, here is a picture of the fuselage, got the struts on last night...

Hoping to get the tail finished tomorrow if i don't have to go away.

I'm moving the rudder servo forward and making it a pull-pull system instead of their way.

coming along...

Looking good Brian, love that "purple people eater" up front ...although on second thought, with a prop attached....ouch, sounds bad...!

However, you get my drift..."Hacker Power....Yes..!"
