Re: ElectroStreak build..
Hi Al,
I'm glad to have taken you down "memory lane"...except that was a violent return to reality!
I sure remember my first experience with pulling up while inverted...my litlle Ace Whizzard was instantly rekitted..!
Once this ES is sanded to shape it should be quite slippery looking. I'm going to try a Mega inrunner motor (22/20/3) on a 4S pack with either a 8" or 7" prop (depending on amp draw) to propel it .
If these messy weekends continue..this build will finish up soon..!

Re: ElectroStreak build..
Few more pics..
..the motor is a sturdy Mega 22/20/3 which should be up to the job on 4S,
..the little JR servos are new and seem to have considerable torque..I mounted them on spruce rails on the bench, then dropped them onto previously attached balsa rails in the fuselage.
..several bottom hatches made from 1/16" ply will blend in with the 1/16" balsa crossgrain bottom pieces to allow access to motor, battery and servos. The grooved landing gear block is visable.

Re: ElectroStreak build..
More progress tonight;
..the wing attachment points were completed, so that allowed the closing up of the fuselage bottom, which meant completing three hatches so access to the vitals can still take place.
..the landing gear was formed from 3/32" wire and a small (1.5") set of wheels installed, (for those times when the worms are active on the field..!)

another run down memory lane! especially that top picture. she's a clean little beastie, far nicer than the porker they put out as a ARF later on.
have fun flying her. you'll enjoy it.

Re: ElectroStreak build..
Getting the ES ready for the July 1st weekend...hooked up the electrics tonight.
Put a 60 amp esc behind the Mega, with just a little 8/4 prop and saw 40 amps and 510 Watts ...yup, that will work..!

Re: ElectroStreak build..
Got it to balance just fine with a 4S 2650mah pack and total weight is 43.7oz ...just an ounce and a bit over the suggested weight of the original kit which was powered with a brushed Goldfire 450 size motor pumping out maybe 300 watts.
I think she's ready..!
(Well, maybe some big red maple leaves for the wing..)

Re: ElectroStreak build..
I added some dark blue stripes to the bottom for orientation and maidened the ES on July 2nd. It flew well with a 8/4 prop on 4S with the Mega 22/20/4 motor however the motor came down hot to the touch. Although speedy, it was not mind bending so a trip to the motor closet was the order of the day.
The choice for a motor replacement was a Turnigy 3050-2300. It's the same physical size as the Mega but it's one ounce heavier, but this will allow the battery pack to be placed rearward some, instead of being jammed up front.
I ditched the spinner to allow better airflow through the motor and replaced the 8/4 prop with an APCe 8/6.
I did a bench test with the Wattmeter and the figures were just ridiculous...it's not legal to publish them here..!
The thing will be to use throttle management to see whether this combo can be tamed, and only bring the hammer down when the man with the radar gun is in position..!
