Moving right along tonight as the wind howls outside..

Got the parts cut out of the Depron, then decided to insert three carbon fiber flats on edge across the width of the "wing". These flats are only 4mm in width and insert nicely into 6mm depron. The one close to the front will wind up covered by the KF piece of depron added to the bottom front. The other two I placed toward the rear, with one only about 3/4 inch in front of the elevons to stiffen that portion of the vehicle.
I applied some spray adhesive and then covered these two with fiberglas tape.

I am building a mini PBF using the guts out of an Air Hogs biplane. That is not my idea as leadfeather himself has done it:

If that works out then I have an idea for a second one that will have elevons as well as twin motors from a second biplane and be a specktrum BNF. More on that later...

Starting to come together now..

I added a couple tabs to the fuselage with corresponding holes in the wing to assist in keeping the fuse at 90* when attaching it.
I saw a suggestion to do the same thing with the landing gear pieces but I had mine cut out before I read this.

A mod was made to the fuselage front to accomadate the outrunner motor mount.

..daily update,

Despite battling the foaming LePages Ultra glue which tends to mess up the model's appearance, (so much so that from now on I will ONLY use poly glue on the INSIDE of models where it's blasted foaming characteristic cannot be seen), progress IS being made.

The motor is mounted and the struts have been added along with the "virtual retracts"....called such because while they give the model the required prop clearance for takeoff, once airborn they fade into the background and are hardly seen.

Humm..ran the motor tonight...with a 9/7 GWS prop I'm only getting 5.9 amps and 41 watts at full throttle....wonderingif I should cut some foam to allow a 10" prop with this motor...gotta ask myself.."how much power do you want ?" I think an 8 amp draw with around 55 watts would be nice.

Gotta see how it goes before making changes....balances nicely, but at 7.8 ounces and 41 watts, it's comes in at around 85 watts per pound. But I did want a slow flyer, so maybe that's what I got..!

Anyway, learned some things from this build, that I'll apply to the next one..!

I built another PB Flyer recently in honor of the new 2014 Corvette Stingray, just released at Detroit.

This one is made from 9mm EPP and will be evaluated over the next few indoor sessions.
It may require a small wing to be added to the rear,in front of the rudder, sort of where a spoiler would be located on the vehicle itself.
From what I read, they fly more level with this addition.
