Here is a panoramic of Halifax I did a couple of years ago. Altitude is between 600 and 700 ft.

That's very neat!! How do you make that john? And how do you take the pictures so that it's side by side?

The photos in this one were taken at about 2 seconds intervals while doing a level slow right turn. A total of 9 pictures were used. before stitching, some of them had to be rotated a few degrees in Photoshop. Then a Program called Microsoft ICE (free download) was used to automatically stitch the photos together. There are some wrinkles, see the dislocation on the MacDonald Bridge. A bit more attention to the rotation of the image would have eliminated this error. To get a full enlargement click on the image and then click on the image again.
The camera used was a 5 mp Minolta.
My current camera, a 10mp Lumix with Leica lens gives much sharper resolution. I have a close to 360 degree set of 34 pictures covering from the MacKay bridge, through Burnside, Dartmouth and Halifax almost to the MacKay Bridge. Photo interval 0.5 seconds. Height for this was about 400 ft altitude. There are a few skips in it, so I'll have to go back and rotate some individual photos.

According to Wikipedia, the smokestacks at the Tufts Cove Generating Plant are 152m or about 500 feet tall.

Knowing that, the estimate of altitude is bang on.
