Bronze medal in 2023 Glider World Championships

Unread post by JohnOSullivan » Fri Sep 01, 2023 5:04 pm

Eitan Rotbart has hit the Podium in the Hand Launch RC Sailplane World Championships in Bulgaria.
After 17 gruelling contest preliminary rounds he made the Fly-offs and then continued through 6 more Fly-off rounds to bring home the Bronze Medal.
This is the calibre of contest flier that Canada is turning out despite virtually no acknowledgement from MAAC. In fact Canada has been represented strongly in several World Championships this year, including Indoor RC Aerobatics, Free Flight glider, Power and Rubber Powered, RC Aerobatics.

Many of you have seen Joshua Mardling's potent Hand Launch Sailplane flying and this is a model that he obtained from Eitan Rotbart and is almost identical to the model Eitan used in the World Championship.
Although there is no significant direct contest participation in Atlantic Canada, competition flying is a major component within the whole Model Aviation world and Canada's continued participation at a world class competitive level is to be encouraged.
