The Sailplane guys have done it again. Dynamic Soaring.
New world record speed record 907 KPH (564 Mph) all without motor power.

Terrifying! thanks John! I was also going to post about it:

New world DSS R/C glider speed record at 564mph, (almost 3 football fields/sec.) The 130" (~11ft) glider is 325oz (20lb) and G-forces are up to 120g. At 3200ft altitude, speed of sound is ~750mph. Add ~70mph of wind to 564mph gives an airspeed of ~Mach .85. Not sure what would happen to the glider's stability if it reached Mach 1!

I assume this was approved and cleared by the FAA...AMA .....as well as the CMA ..,he said with tongue in cheek...!
