Sloping Sunday 29th Lawrencetown
Had a call from Chris Dean. Wants to go sloping Sunday Morning at Lawrencetown.
I checked into conditions.
11:00 am Startup.
Temperature 3 deg C, winds 15 to 18 kph from Southwest. Could not get any better conditions for this time of year.
Should suit medium weight models. Radian, Radian Pro and any other medium weight models from Easy Star to Cularis.
Lots of regular models flown at Shannon will suit.
Dress warmly and have some fun

Re: Sloping Sunday 29th Lawrencetown
A good turnout of 8 fliers at Lawrencetown today. A bit chilly at about 2 degrees and wind checked out at 25 kts from the southwest (an ideal direction).
Not so hard on the fingers as I would have expected and everyone has a good flying session.

This is where the crazy people were today:

I suspect that only those of us who were there will appreciate it...

Not so El Rikarino, I can watch you crazies doing crazy stuff all day. Standing on that hill in late January on the ocean in NS looks like great fun lolRocketManRC wrote:

Its funny we were talking about sloping last Wednesday at the indoor. If I wasn't such a wuss I would have been there on the hill today also.

You have likely seen the sleek yellow Sailplane in Rick's Video. This is the latest addition to Andrew Smith's fleet and is a Supra designed by MIT aerodynamisist Mark Drela who has revolutionized sailplane aerodynamics and design. This model is a flawless moulded model (and reflected in the cost) and was the design which started the new trends.
Andrew, wisely did not give it a maiden flight in the cold 25kt conditions, but I'm sure that we'll lots of this model in the coming year.

Sorry I missed this guys!
Well, sort of...I was in California at the time and was actually partaking in some slope soaring there last week, albeit in much friendlier temperatures.
Good to see such a large group gathered in January. It bodes well for the upcoming summer sloping season!
Cheers,
Vic
