Re: Instructor or Examiner Certification/Qualification
Anyone know if Rhoady is still around?
He is one of the guys who initially provided my instructions and aside from doing planes - is also a heli guy.
I know he occasionally volunteers as an instructor but I have not seen him since mid-late May.

Re: Instructor or Examiner Certification/Qualification
Yes Rhoady is still with us but caught up for the moment with family affairs as far as I understand. Same with Steve W but with work issues although he managed to make it out late on Sunday for a bit of combat practice.
I should have mentioned in my previous post that Steve Ryan is our official slope soaring instructor although we don't have anything organized for that just yet. I am hoping we will get some decent slope weather before too long.
Hmmm, now that I think about it maybe we need a combat instructor...

Re: Instructor or Examiner Certification/Qualification
For $20 (including shipping) you can get a 20A brushed ESC, two HXT900 servos and a DSM2 parkflyer Rx from HK. A DX5e is $69 with tax. So, for $89 you could buddy box enable the HEFA Cub.RocketManRC wrote:I like the fact that you can get the Super Cub now with the DX4e which will connect to most of our radios with a cable (except for us Futaba users). Maybe HEFA should upgrade to that version of the Super Cub...
I was originally thinking we could get two HobbyKing 2.4Ghz Tx ($23 each) and use them for master and slave. This could work, but would require modifications to the master Tx (a switch needs to be wired in).

That's a good solution Karl. I will see what the rest of the Directors think.

Re: Instructor or Examiner Certification/Qualification
As previously mentioned many of us flying 'old timers' (started in 1991) didn't go through an instructor certification. If someone can fly consistantly in a competant manner and is calm at the flight line would make a good instructor.
I do think there should be a basic guideline for teaching students (perhaps a log book as that is how I started in the hobby). But this will need to be discussed by the officials.
I am always willing to help teach people to fly when at the field. Anyone wanting help just has to ask. I think we need a way to identify the instructors. I have been at the field and see people standing around (assuming they are just chatting), then later I find they were hoping to fly.
I have been thinking that the Club Cub should be setup for buddy box too.
I think my tamed down stryker would be good for those windier days. I had Rob do his first flight on it. But, a buddy box would be much better.
Cheers,
Marc

Re: Instructor or Examiner Certification/Qualification
A pair of brand new DX4e's appeared on RCCanada for a great price. Would be perfect for the club trainer. I'll see if I can snag them.
Edit: I got them both for the same price as one DX5e. Hopefully the mail will start moving again next week.
